CANNES Film Festival

May 2017

After 3 years not being able to, I finally did it again - attending my favourite film event - the Cannes Film Festival. Apart from enjoying the red carpet screenings of YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE by Lynne Ramsay, IN THE FADE by Fatih Akin, GOOD TIMES by the Safdie Brothers and L'AMANT DOUBLE by François Ozon, I've met some great people from all over the world (Netherlands, Mexico, Australia, Russia) and got inspired by there passion and ambition. The most important thing what I learned was "don't stress yourself with meticulous schedule planning and go with the flow". This advice is mostly for actors. Pick one event to start with and let it go from there. You always run into people you've never expected to meet or get to know. Here's one of numerous coincidents: At a screening event I ran into a crew member of the thriller short film FAITHFUL I had shot in LA just a week before Cannes. Next to her was sitting a producer from NYC I met at the Tribeca FF this year, on the other side was sitting a showrunner I know from LA and behind her was my acting friend from France saving a seat for me.
